10 days in Montenegro June 2019: Sveti Stefan Vila Drago

The earliest record of Sveti Stefan is as the capital city of the Paštrovići community, which became a protectorate of the Republic of Venice in 1423, having been independent since the twelfth century. The Paštrovići accepted Venetian sovereignty because they were fearful of attack from the Turks. They retained considerable autonomy and paid no tribute to Venice, in return for ceasing piracy against Venetian ships.[3]
According to a legend recounted by Stjepan Mitrov Ljubiša, the town fortification was funded after Paštrovići looted Turkish ships moored in front of Jaz during Barbarossa's siege of Kotor in 1539. The town was razed shortly after, during the Fourth Ottoman–Venetian War. After continuous pleas by Paštrovići, the Venetian Republic agreed to rebuild it in the 16th century.[4] In the 15th century, the fortified village was built to defend against the Turks and became a haven for pirates of the Adriatic.[5]
Sveti Stefan can be a great base for visiting all costal areas and Montenegro Nanitional Parks.

10 days in Montenegro June 2019: Day 2 from Pluzine to Zabljak

The mountain road from Pluzine to Zabljak

The Durmitor National Park will be one of the most incredible unexpected delights of your trip around in Montenegro.

The road wound its way up Mount Sedlo to the Sedlo Pass, which at 1907m above sea level, is the highest paved pass in Montenegro. There was a little parking lot at the top so we pulled over for a better look. Looking towards Zabljak, the mountains loomed high on each side of rugged the valley with Valovito Jezero glacial lake glittering below.

Breathtaking Durmitor National Park was formed by glaciers and is traversed by rivers and underground streams. Along the Tara river canyon, which has the deepest gorges in Europe, the dense pine forests are interspersed with clear lakes and harbour a wide range of endemic flora.
